"Bonjour" - I'm Sophie, a designer & spun cotton artist with a passion for all sorts of art, telling us stories from the past but also for the fascinating beauty of nature amongst us - particularly taken reference from antique hunting illustration, 18th century floral patterns & wallpaper designs.
„Filasophie“ is a play on French words, translated literally „(Sewing) thread of Sophie“ and is in transferred sense the central theme of the brand.
The philosophy behind the label originally was everything related to sewing, threading and finally was narrowed down to the magical art of creating spun cotton ornaments…
“Borrowed From Nature”
My main inspiration comes from antique art but also from the beauty of nature with its versatile flora and fauna. It’s therefore not surprising that I come home from our dog walks through the woods with an „imaginary sketch book" filled with new ideas!
Back in the atelier, pheasants, mushrooms and so many other characters have been then translated into cotton figurines and illustrations - always with great attention to detail and a huge amount of love…
